Diversity in art
Our MA in Fine Art is designed to provide an educational experience for those of you are highly motivated, committed and seeking to use Fine Art methods and approaches to address contemporary themes and issues.
All media practices - including painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, printmaking, photography, film, performance and new technologies are actively encouraged, as are interdisciplinary practices. Emphasis is places on the implications of practice at a professional level.
We support your individual studio practice by addressing the theories of the discipline and its philosophical and cultural contexts through seminars, workshops, tutorials, and a series of high-profile visiting-artists lectures.
We offer a great variety of MA titles, but best of all we give you the opportunity to work in a truly transdisciplinary environment. NTU gives MA students their own designated space, where you can meet students from different subject areas and obtain information and support from an MA coordinator and administrator. This makes it easy for you to work with your fellow students, learning the skills of collaborative and inter-cultural sensitivity.

The course is taught by a community of artists and tutors working across the terrain of video, sound, sculpture and paining, and beyond to that of the relational, the technological and the performative.
This diversity is addressed through focused critical support and an understanding of the challenges of making and exhibiting in contemporary contexts. This particularly enables you to shape work in the kind of cross-media practices which have generated some of the most compelling artwork of the last 50 years.

Assessment is carried out via coursework at the end of each stage, culminating in an exposition of students' work towards the end of the course.

A wide range of career opportunities is open to Fine Art students. Recent graduates have set up their own businesses, work as consultants or practitioners, have progressed to professional development within the creative industries, or gone on to further study at postgraduate level.
