This course has been designed with industry specifically to meet its changing needs. Engineers who have specialised in one traditional discipline are now often expected to understand, operate in and develop entire systems which today are not only increasingly complex but rapidly changing.
The curriculum challenges the thinking and extends the capabilities of managers and engineers working in technological fields, by providing them with tools, practices and processes which enable them to remain effective in the workplace.
It provides:
•An integrated systems engineering viewpoint of related technologies, processes, techniques and their effective use
•Essential systems skills such as multi-criteria decision-making with an awareness of business risk and a systems engineering approach to managing complex projects
•Knowledge and technical expertise in a selected range of systems technologies
•Experience of the importance to ultimate success, of effective, integrated, multi-skilled project teams working in extended enterprises beyond the confines of any particular organisation
•Increased depth of technical and management knowledge through elective modules
•The ability to transfer systems skills and knowledge into the workplace through the experience of the team project and, thereafter, through the industry-based individual Master’s project
