This MSc provides ESRC-approved research training in politics and international relations. We aim to provide a thorough grounding in practical methodological skills through hands-on experience and the critical exploration of relevant examples and case studies. The Department of Politics promotes a closely-knit student community with easy access to members of staff who all give teaching and supervision a high priority while maintaining high-quality, high-volume research.
The Department of Politics, Department of Sociology and Centre for East Asian Studies recently merged to create a new School within the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law.
课程内容 Course Content ：
The MSc programme lasts 50 weeks from the beginning of October. The logic and structure of the programme follow the general model for taught Masters programmes agreed by the Faculty of Social Sciences and Law, with six 20-credit taught units delivered in two blocks between October and May.
First Term: Generic
Mandatory Teaching Block 1 Units:
•Philosophy of Social Science
•Qualitative Social Research
•Quantitative Social Research
Second Term: Subject-specific
Mandatory Teaching Block 2 Units (subject to validation):
•Comparative Research Design or Discourse Analysis
•Political Research Methods
•Pathway Training in specialised areas within Politics and International Relations
Third Term
Independent study for 10,000-15,000-word dissertation
