This new MSc programme will give you a solid grounding in an area at the forefront of research in Mathematics from internationally renowned researchers. Specialised lectures cover both the basics as well as latest developments in the chosen area, and the research project allows you to get your own hands-on experience by performing your own research. Successful students are well placed to obtain jobs with a strong quantitative, reasoning or problem solving requirement. Moreover, the course forms a strong foundation if you are planning to pursue further research.

The programme consists of two terms of taught study on a range of optional units, followed by a substantial research project in a research theme from the list below.
Taught Units (October to March)
Under the guidance of a mentor you can choose a combination of taught units that is tailored to the chosen research theme and your own background. It is possible to exchange some of the taught units with a literature review related to the research theme.
Research Project (April to September)
As an integral part of the MSc programme, you are required to complete a project and submit a dissertation. The project gives you the opportunity to carry out a substantial investigation, and counts for one third of the total assessment or for one half in conjunction with the optional literature review (see above).
