The School of Economics, Finance and Management has an international reputation for research excellence. Faculty members in the School regularly publish in top international journals and the School is expanding following substantial recent success in research funding applications.
The MSc is an intensive one-year programme providing you with the body of knowledge and skills that are expected of a professional economist, either one who is going on to do independent research for a PhD or one who is going to work as an economist.
The programme will provide you with a sound basis for your future career not only in economics, but also in a wide range of fields including: finance, business management, public service or teaching.

and two further optional units. These may vary from year to year but currently include:

•Personnel Economics
•Public Organisations
•Topics in Development Economics
Third term and Summer Vacation
Over the summer you will complete a research based dissertation of up to 15,000 words, individually supervised by a member of staff from the Department.
