课程特征 Course Features:
The Bristol area has long hosted a world-leading semiconductor design industry which continues to thrive. This MSc has been designed to meet the needs of this local industry in response to a shortfall in graduates with the qualifications and practical skills expected from professional semiconductor design engineers.
The programme, run jointly by the departments of Computer Science and Electrical and Electronic Engineering, offers a range of taught core subjects such as Computer Architecture, Programming, Circuit Design and Design Verification, then moves into specialised areas including Embedded and Real-Time Systems, Integrated Sensors and Actuators, Analogue Design and Mixed Signal Design
课程内容 Course Content :
The programme structure is under continual discussion with an industrial advisory board in order that it remains at the cutting edge of the semiconductor industry. It is therefore subject to small changes to improve the programme on an ongoing basis.
During the introductory week, you will take a programming proficiency test and will be placed in either an 'experienced' stream or a 'foundation' stream.
Foundation Stream Students
These students will complete the following units:
•Advanced DSP FPGA Implementation
•Analogue Integrated Circuit Design
•Design Verification
•Integrated Circuit Electronics
•Overview of Computer Architecture
•Programming in C
•Project Specification and Design - Advanced
•VLSI Design
The main part of the Project Specification and Design unit is normally done in collaboration with an industrial partner, potentially on-site
Experienced Stream Students
These students will complete the following units:
Advanced Computer Architecture
Advanced DSP and FPGA Implementation
VLSI Design
Integrated Circuit Electronics
Project Specification and Design - Advanced
Analogue Integrated Circuit Design
Design Verification
Device Interconnect - Principles and Practice
Digital Systems
Embedded and Real-Time Systems - Basic
Fault Tolerant Computer Design
Integrated Circuit Electronics
Project Specification and Design - Advanced
System Integration
VLSI Design
The main part of the Project Specification and Design unit is normally done in collaboration with an industrial partner, potentially on-site.
Summer
All students complete a final project which consists of researching, planning and implementing a major piece of work relating to your MSc programme. The project must have a significant scientific or technical component and usually involves on-site collaboration with and industrial partner. The thesis is usually submitted by the end of September.
