This MA is intended for students who wish to study logic, philosophical logic, and the philosophy of mathematics. The MA is as a self-standing degree, but is also designed as preparation for doctoral level research. The University of Bristol has exceptional research strength in the fields of logic and the philosophy of mathematics. It is ranked by the Philosophical Gourmet Report as the strongest department in the UK for mathematical logic, the second strongest for philosophical logic, and the fourth strongest for philosophy of mathematics.
The Philosophy department has strong links with the Mathematics department and one member of staff holds a joint appointment in both departments
