The subject area of Electronics is of key strategic significance to modern advanced economies. Advances in analogue and digital electronics have helped form information based industries and societies that continue to evolve at a breakneck pace. The successful development of Electronics in industry and wider society is key to achieving a competitive edge in today's global economy.
This degree will provide students with underpinning knowledge in the broad range of fields necessary for the study of modern electronics, practical skills in the form of design, simulation and construction of electronic systems in the laboratory, training in research methods and a project in an area of advanced electronics.

A total of 180 credits (120 from taught courses plus 60 for the project) are required at a satisfactory level of achievement for the award of the Master's degree.
The courses offered will comprise:
Semester 1
Analogue IC Design (10 credits);
Analogue VLSI A (20 credits);
Microelectronic Device Principles (10 credits);
Discrete-Time Signal Analysis (10 credits);
Signal Processing with MATLAB (10 credits).
Semester 2
Digital System Design (10 credits);
Digital Systems Laboratory (10 credits);
High Level Programming of Reconfigurable Hardware (20 credits);
Research Project Preparation (10 credits).
and either: Modern Economic Issues in Industry (10 credits), or Technology and Innovation Management (10 credits).
